We went down to Brisbane to see the Andy Warhol exhibition for the kids, they were mesmerized by a hula hoopa and i found a lot of beauty in the grey patterns of the city.
I would love to see one of Patrick Blanc's vertical gardens one day and wonder why every city does not have one. Have a look at these beautiful walls.

missing in action for a week

Swallowsstar

A swallows star, at the train station.... remember to look up!!!

Collaging

One of my favourite things to do at the start of a new year is to sit down and collage over my new diary. I think this love comes from days of collaging your school books, cutting and pasting and creating new images from found images.
The graph paper images are from the artist Mona Miclea from Romania. Her photos are beautiful too!

Justpicked

Still picking the toms from the garden.
Thanks to everyone for all your lovely comments on our garden and also everyone sharing their own and passing on the question, i love seeing peoples green spaces, it puts a smile on my face.!
There hasnt been a lot of time to make at the moment and especially in this last week, the final week of the summer school holidays the weather has been great so hence no blogging, just alot of playing outside with the kids which i am loving.
I have a new piece to show soon!!! (sewing at night.... when i can!)

tagged with a heart wish

Gden

I have been tagged by Karin.
Instead of the usual ' list 7 things about yourself, she has followed on from Ashley by making up her own question ( I like that idea).

My question from Karen is "Do you have any long-time wishes or heart-projects?"

I actually have 2!
The first one is I wish to be eating from our organic garden every season and educating the kids about the earth and how your garden grows by planting a seed so small, watering it and watching it turn into an edible vegetable or fruit.
In the last 2 years since we have been living here we have created more and more garden beds for veggies and if Hal had his way we would have no grass at all to mow, but we do agree, the kids need it!!
So areas are created and pockets of space divided for plots of veggies, the clothes line, the kids area, soon chooks up the back and a green house, once we fight the weed taking over the back half.
(The tyres are for growing potatoes in, but we just lost 2 lots due to this amazing amount of rain we are having).

Imaginary journeys to the moon are so much fun!
"The Rocket", outside and inside!!! Made by my brother in law Matthew Smith.

Asparaguskid
Asparagus Kid!! I just love watching them eat from the garden.

Homegrown
We have eaten soooooo many cucumber in the past 2 months... but still not tired of them!

and .... the second wish project would be to finish a group of illustrations for a book that Hal is writing or is planning to write.

So I thought i would carry on the tag with my own question which is... ' How does your garden grow?"

Would love to see Gracia's,Liz's, Danica's and Else's.
Even if it is a few pots on a window sill!

Gracia and Danica are you up for another tag?

baby fox!

Babyfox

Here is a request by Max for his Christmas present from us..." you know mum, i would really like a black baby Fox".
I was excited as he has never asked for one of my creations as he is so in love with his squishy bears he was given at birth from his grandma and great gran. Its not black... just a few markings as one black fox would be lost at night!!

Now i am introducing the 'baby fox' to my creations (thanks Max!!) and soon a few will be available over at Etsy.

The orange Fox is Ochre's... requested by her, as she loves the colour orange.

Guess what!!!
The sun has come out for the last 2 days, it is so welcome!! You'll have to excuse my winge about the weather, but we were not used to so much rain day after day, week after week.
It did however bring back memories of living in London for 2 years!

Rainy days.

Nonstoprain_4

Raining

It does not feel like summer here at the moment. We actually have had our fire on a couple of times to dry out our old timber house as it has been raining since Christmas eve and things are now starting to go mouldy. It has not stopped and when it does get a break it is for a maximum of about 20 minutes. Other parts of Australia are experiencing 40 degree heat waves and here in tropical Queensland we are feeling the side affects of a cyclone off the coast.

Playdoh

Feeling like a little sunshine would be great right now !!!
